campy bottom bracket question

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Have to is a bit strong. The crankset won't spontaneously combust if it's put on a Record bottom bracket.

The ones with which I'm familiar have different axle lengths so, yes, it's best not to mix gruppos amongst bottom bracket and crankset. I will admit unfamiliarity with the specifics of the 07 gruppos, and the preceding advice is true only of 06 and earlier. It's conceivable it could be have to for 07.

The earlier (-86 - 96) Chorus and Record used the same type 102mm
ISO square taper axle BB and where compatible with each other.
Every 102mm ISO square taper BB will do.
For the new stuff, I don't know.

The 2007 doesn't have a bottom bracket, it has the outboard bearings. The bearings are only available in Record.
