How are you liking the Reynolds? They look like 50mm, is that correct? I have the 2011 5.2 Madone and the paint scheme is similar to your bike. The Reynolds look good on there!

My 2009 4.5 made in Taiwan but I still love it. Swapped out the no name brakes for Ultegra. Sorry for the dirty bar tape.

I decided to upgrade from my '08 5-series Madone. I picked up this new '11 6-series frameset a few weeks ago. However, I'm completely torn between Shimano (DA) and SRAM (Red). I have a full Rival 'cross bike and I like it, and my old '08 was full Dura-Ace and I liked that. So before I spend $1500 on a groupset, I'm going to mull it over for a bit.

I saw this yesterday at another LBS in the area and it looks a lot better in person than at Trek's website. I'm okay with either color - BoB or this Red/White. But with the Red/White, I need to do somehing different with the tape and hoods. The one I saw was a demo and that bar tape was really dirty which is expected. I wonder how it will look with black bar tape and red hoods?

Don't know. You could try wrapping some black material around the existing tape, take a picture and then compare them. As the hoods are black, it might not look too bad. That bike would have been 10x hotter if it had been white with red, IMHO. The 5.2 WSD is dark purple with white. WTF Trek?

Yes, these are the 46mm Reynolds clinchers. I have had them for around 4 years and never once had to true them, I am a huge fan of these wheels.

no way man white bar tape is pro
j/k but really if you wear gloves and every fourth ride wipe them down with lemon Pledge (white bar tape trick) cleans right up. If you really wanted them brand new clean a drop of blue Dawn dish soap works, I do that every few months.

Anyway, I went to an LBS with the wife last Saturday and showed her what I want to get once everything settles down a bit and she asked, "What is the difference between the 5.2 and the 4.7?" So I explained along with the person who was trying to help us and her response was... "I don't see much of a difference and I like the price on the 4.7 better." Oh boy... I have a strong feeling, but don't wanna jinx myself, that I may get my bike sometime this year. I think I'll be happy even if I ended up with the 4.7, but I really want the 5.2 and it will give me an option on an H3 Fit.

Nice looking bike. Near the end of today's ride, I stopped for a latte. I had a hard time not going in to the Trek dealer in the strip mall where the coffee shop is located. Did you remove the TREK decals or is all the name branding decals a more recent trend?

Thanks a bunch, I really like it too. The paint has a ton of metallic flake in it so it looks great in the sun.
I just put new bar tape on, wondering if I should go to black headset, spacers, and black bar tape and hoods. maybe next time around. It had a white RXL stem but went to a shorter 3T, maybe I just need to find a white one.
