CycleOps MAG+ Trainer...

Hey guys I just bought a trainer and I settled with this one. I know Fluid is the popular choice but I didn't have the extra $$$, plus, since it's going in my condo, I don't want the risk of leaking oil on my new carpet, however low that risk may be. Anyway, my trainer has a remote resistence that attaches to the handlebar and so far so good. The only question I have is what's the difference between adding resistence through the remote nad changing gears? Another question I have is some people here have said to keep away from magnetic trainers. Is that what this is? If so, then why?

Think about it....you add resistance and you can change gears...if you go to more resistance, you still have the gears to work with...

The Fluid will not leak oil...

Magnetic trainers are fine, just not as smooth.

There should be a sticky thread for trainer questions, this happens every year this time.
