Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Goin to the darkside.....

I decided I'm going to build up my Moto Le Champ frame (which has been sitting around since I got the Kestrel) as a fixie, so that'll be my winter project.

Just FYI

If you are looking for wheels check out the wheels these guys are selling on eBay https://stores.ebay.com/wheelandsproc...QQftidZ2QQtZkm I had been looking at them (before a Merckx fell in my lap) for a fixed gear buildup. They have been talking about them in the fixed gear forum and they seem to be a good quality wheel for a great price.

Why is that the dark side? It has two wheels, isn't it a bicycle?

^I think he is referring to the subsequent purchase of messenger bag, white belt, shants, and punk rock records he may be contemplating

Nah I think it more refers to the actual ownership by a forum member of a bike from bikesdirect.

shant = short pant or shants= short pants if you prefer

be careful, fixed gear riding tends to lead to alot more fixed gear riding, might as well go ahead and get rid of the geared bike, you wont be needing it any further, besides, gears are for people with weak little legs that cant ride worth a crap anyway

When you go fixed gear, the only line you draw is your perfectly straight chainline.

Once you drop your first roadie while climbing a hill fixed, you'll be hooked.

and I thought you were going to say you were going Campy! Good luck on the fixie and maybe I'll see it on a ride some day next season. I wish I had some extra funds to do either a fixie or a TT rig.
