Ride Report; A Feel Good Story
So many times we hash over negative stories here....here was a nice surprise on today's ride.
Shortly after the turnaround of my usual 26-mile route today, a rider came up alongside me and starting talking to me.
"Hey I recognize you and wanted to say hi," he said with a smile.
Well, as it turns out the gentleman on that nice Waterford machine was Dave, who introduced himself as a regular reader of my web blog and a fan of my radio show too.
Luckily, the headwind was already dealt with on the way out, so we had some tail to cross wind helping us, allowing us to keep a nice steady and brisk pace of 18-20 mph while chatting along the way.
It's always great to swap stories with another friendly roadie. Turns out he was riding on his day off in an area where he trains quite a bit, so he was hoping he would bump into me at some point.
He pointed out that he reads my blog every couple of days, and even uses it as an inspiration at times when he sees that I went out, so he wants to go out too.
We talked about training, some of our ride routes, his kids, my job....it was great fun.
I hope we ride again some time. I told him about La Grange and riding in the Kettle Moraine where I also train....and perhaps joining me there sometime as I have done in the past with some BF members on a group ride.
Ahhhh, and anti-Knave.....and it was fun out there in the cloudy, cold wind today!

Younger.
Smaller.
Better shape.
This guy was serious.
I would have been the drop-ee, not the drop-er I do believe.

If you see FTD come up to the door with a dozen roses, you're screwed.

They really needed women as the lead actors in that movie. It was just plain weird seeing two guys make out.
So Hip, you guys set a date yet?

Didn't know your name was Phil though. Way back before I joined the ranks of the IT forces, I worked as a warehouse monkey/slave. Had a second shift manager named Phil. We called him Flip. So I think from here on out, we shall have to refer to you as Flip. Or perhaps Hip Flip. Or to honor Flandis, we can call you Flhip.
Just kidding. Maaaaaybe.

Yesterday was my first ride outside since like....ummmm....sometime in the middle of September. Didn't take any meds or anything...meds don't work with viral stuff, so it's one of those "rest, eat and drink, and wait it out" types of things.
Granted, I had a nice 15-20 mph wind to deal with, but I noticed a bit of a reduction in fitness . Ah well....should be alllllll nice and rested up for base-building season.
