Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Some days you eat the bar...

And some days the bar eats you.

I thought today was gonna be a decent ride. Its a sunny day, gusty and 48 degrees. I figured I would stay in town and explore since im new here.

So im about 15 miles in, and the bike goes mushy. Apparently i picked up some sticker burrs(dunno what yankees call em, sry guys) and Ive got flats, 2 . This, however, was not the worst part. My knee was hurting. This is because while cruising down main street I got squeezed by an SUV and caught my knee on the trunk of a car. I hit it hard enough to come out of the saddle and unclip both feet. Just lucky I stayed upright I guess. So I duckwalked the mile and a half back to my apt carrying my brand new shiny red bike. Eliciting many odd looks from passers by. The moral of this sad story you ask???

Man that kestrel sure is lite

Now Im sore and out of tubes.

Sorry to hear about the ride... just think though, it will hopefully be a long time before anything else bad happens to you on a ride.

Actually its Cenchrus echinatus or the most similar thing I could find anyway. I have never even seen a goathead.

They are little bastards but sharp as hell and barbed on the tips. they are a much larger pain in the ass when they die though.
