Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lance is BACK......

to the NYC Marathon, that is.
Quote
Lance Armstrong told the Reuters news service yesterday that he is still undecided about his future, which includes offers to work as an actor or enter politics. But he said one thing's for sure: He's going to run again in the New York City Marathon. "I've decided I'm going back, even though I'm still shaking it off and still limping," Lance said, admitting that he hasn't run since crossing the finish line on Nov. 5. The 35-year-old Texan called the 26.2-mile event "the hardest thing I've ever done." But it was worth the pain for two reasons: It raised his "celebrity capital" and it raised $779,397 for the Lance Armstrong Foundation that benefits cancer survivors.

Yes, clearly I was aiming for elloquence. You people amaze me with your utter lack of ability to spot sarcasm. I even spelled it G H E Y. It's a humurous pejorative meant to be taken lightly.

The man is an animal. However, the nature of cycling vs the nature of running leads me to believe the odds of his success with running are not nearly as good. Running is about injury management and at his age I don't think he's likely to be resilient enough to make huge wins consistently.

not to sound like im up munkyv's youknowwhat, but I think the quote was used by this definition:

from urban dictionary:
2. ghey

a derivation of gay meaning lame. meant to be non-offensive to individuals of a *****exual persuasion.

Because "ghey" isn't meant to sound totally like "gay?"

Just because you spell it differently, it's still gay-bashing. The word "gay" has been misused so much as a derogatory term that we now think we can spell it a little differently and not offend the group that was belittled by the original spelling?

The really funny thing is that the "up munkyv's youknowwhat" comment at the beginning of the post was yet another homophobic comment, of course implying that any two men who agree with or support each other are gay.

Oh, but wait, you said "youknowwhat," so it's not homophobic after all.

You really don't find that at all derogatory?? I'm asking because it surprises me. Not trying to start a flame-fest here, just trying to learn something.

Nope. I was using gay to mean lame back before I even cared about orientation. Now with the PC thing going, it's ghey to be non-offensive.

Like Carlons Mencia said: "You can call me whatever you want. Doesn't hurt me one bit."

See, where you went wrong is that you didn't give it a bit of.

Running 1s t3h GH3Yz0r5 L0Lzs!!111!!!!eleventyone!!!!+aliens

Therefore, what you said was serious.

One would think that after the Koffee Brown debarkle that people would realise that not everything other people say is meant in the literal sense.

Sometimes ghey is spelled "gh3y"

Leetspeak

Umm.. anyway, sorry to keep the thread off topic. I hope Lance keeps at the marathons; the guy is turning out to be a bit of an eccentric, and I think he's much more interesting now than he was when he was riding.

Apparently Lance didn't like my comment about him barely eeking out a sub-3 hr marathon so he's come back for more.. this time, more poison in the water...
