$1,000.00 Ultegra 10 speed bike from Nashbar.

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

$1,000.00 Ultegra 10 speed bike from Nashbar.

Do the parts on this bike make it worth the purchase?

I think that whole bike should be around $2000-2300 if it had a name brand, I saw that in the Nashbar catalog in the mail today too. Nashbar has nice frames, and I'd jump on it if I had the space for another steed.

This is a good deal but honestly, there are similar, if not better deals to be found. Including one from a certain company that's been mentioned quite a bit on the forum lately. They have one that for the same price, has slightly better wheels and free shipping.

That said, I do love my Ironhorse. It's an '04 Victory - the one year and the one model that came with Easton 7000 Scandium tubing.

Rad, did you ever solve the high speed wobble on your Victory?

I did - I learned it was a combination of using old riding techniques on a frame that had a completely new geometry (to me). In other words, it was the operator and not the bike. After I read up on some of the rider-induced causes, I altered my approach to downhills - no problems since.

Good to hear, if not I was going to point you to Calfee's discussion of fork symmetry and its effect on speed wobble - pretty interesting stuff. For anyone interested, you'll find it here. https://www.calfeedesign.com/forksymmetry.htm

One down.. nineteen to go!

But yeah. I was going to mention earlier the company that.. you know, starts with a B. But I decided not to. Either way, they're both pretty good deals.

Yet another company that won't ship oversize to APO/FPO (neither does the other unmentioned similarly priced company). Yah, support the troops and stuff.
