Bontrager Saddle

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bontrager Saddle

I don't have anything original to say, but I just got a Lemond Reno and it came with Bontrager Race Luxe saddle.

It has raised, rough stitching on the top and side. I rode it for 20 miles and now the inside of my thighs is rubbed raw.

Who in hell puts raised stitching on a saddle where your legs will be rubbing over it five thousand times an hour?

I've used several different Bontrager saddles all with stitching and never had any problems. Maybe you have another fit issue with the seat.

Or maybe it's just that you are getting used to riding this way?

The Bontrager saddles are cheap test ride saddles. Throw yours away and treat yourself to something decent this Christmas.

I just bought a Buenos Aires myself and I love the frame but the Bontrager components are not so hot, the saddle being by far the worst.

I use one model of Selle San Marco saddle exclusively on all my bikes, because it has the right shape and the right amount of padding for my butt. It has stitching on both sides of the nose of the sadddle and both sides on the top rear portion. It has never bothered my legs. I'm a big fan of Treks and Bontrager....but the Bonty saddles are just horrible IMO. Find something that is comfy and ride it. The San Marcos I ride were comfy right from the moment I bolted one on the bike. There is a saddle out there for everyone..even you my friend.

My Daughter LOVES her Race Lux Lite that came on her Trek 1500 and wants one for her track bike. You can send me your unwanted saddles and help out a junior racer.

Thanks

I still have the stock Race Lux on my Tourmalet. I wouldn't recommend it for long rides wearing jeans, but with decent shorts it should be ok if it fits you, especially if you stand occaisionally.
