Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

GPS system for a biker?

HI, just a mom here lookin for a Christmas gift for my son. He has called me from his cell phone SEVERAL times, asking me to look up on the computer WHERE HE'S AT and give him directions how to GET HOME!
He lives in Texas, I'm in Ohio...haha. SOOOOO...does anyone know of a hand held/bike GPS system that would map out his route for him? I was looking at the Garmin Foretrex 201..but I really don't have a clue on these things. I'd like to keep it under $200.

If anyone can help, thank you!

201 doesn't have mapping. For random point to random point direction, you'll need to get a mapping capable GPS. In Garmin's range, eTrex Legend/Vista would work. But it's desirable to get a Cx designated model where there's colour display for the map and enough additional storage space to load up the maps.

Price wise it's likely to go over your budget, but you may get lucky on the net and come close to your limit.

A map and a compas.

Come on. It would make a cute gift. Then give him the GPS.
