Is it a good idea....
...to tip your bike fitter? I spent two hours with a guy today who fit my bike to me perfectly and did an incredible job, it's never felt better! I felt a little guilty because he didn't even charge me since I bought the bike from his store last year. Problem is, I felt like maybe I should give him a little gratuity, but didn't have cash on me. If tipping is appropriate in this case, I thought I could stop by next week, give him a gift card for a lunch or dinner, what do you think?

There's never anything wrong with doing something nice, especially for good service. If you feel uncomfortable handing him some greenbacks, VosBike's suggestion is an excellent one, especially during the Holidays. Maybe even better if its food or drinks than a tip, since more than one store employee can enjoy. They will never forget you.

I'd tip him, those fit jobs are awesome and without his help/service you feel quite uncomfortable. I even tip mechanics for there services , even more so when they don't charge me.
I love walking into a shop, the mechanic eyes my bike, breifly looks it over notices something wrong. Then ask if he can see if for a sec, does a little twist here a little twist there, and somehow the bike feels even better, and more crisp than before. Then I'd ask how much do i owe, he grins and replies, it's on me. Those little jobs make such a difference, and sure enough im going to tip him.

wow....where are these LBS? the ones around here don't give you the time of day unless you're buying a new freaking bike everytime you go in
