As to "flipping it," do what's comfortable. I mean, give it a shot, but with that kind of angle on the stem it will drop your bar quite a bit.
I do think the yellow tires just put it over the top in the yellow department, and once they get some miles on them you'll either be cleaning them constantly (and really, washing tires?) or won't be happy with the look. But that's just me. |
super hot man!! I dig it, i'd love a LS bike.

I like everything except (there's gotta be an 'except' in there somewhere, hasn't there?) the macro splash tape. I'd consider putting the yellow and black combo below on...

great looking ride. As mentioned before I would use a solid color bar tape. eventually the yellow will get pretty dirty. deda makes a gray type tape that is pretty nice, or black as either one will go with the frame or rims

As others have stated... If it were not for the Marbled tape and that upright stem, your bike would look wicked....
But it is your bike after all, so make it and ride like you want :) |

Nice bike. Bit much on the yellow spokes tho. Black bar tape would look nice. Black tires too. The stealth look is pretty cool, but a single small little decal that says 'Litespeed' would be good too. |
Sweet!

Re: The stem.
Some advice that may or may not be relevant. Due to a severe brachial plexus (nerve) injury I ride with the majority of my weight supported by one arm. I had, until recently, held the idea the higher the bar the better. On my vintage Motobecane a Nitto Technomic stem (really high quill stem for you youngsters) solved this but the modern LeMond proved a challege. So, I rode with the stem in its raised position but was never real comfortable. I never posted pics but I'm sure I would've heard the "flip it" chorus too. :) Anyways, I did flip it and found no more stress on my right wrist and less stress on my lower back. In short I'm more comfortable. Like, I said this may not be relevant b/c our situations almost certainly are not alike but I do recommend trying it. Even a semi-retro grouch like me appreciates the fact that it's pretty easy with threadless stems. |
Going to get a new stem. The one on it is a +- 17 degrees. I am going with a 6 degree. Flipping a 17 degree would drop me way low. As far as the tires and yellow marbled tape. I like it so I will keep it. I do have a set of custom decals on the way that simply say Litespeed in yellow reflective color. About 3/4" high by 6" long.
I like the color scheme because no one else has it around here. I am a big fan of yellow and black due to being a Steelers fan so it has meaning beyond just a color I picked out. Thanks for all the feedback and hopefully all this crap rain will move out and a ride report can be done. |
I'm with you on removing the Litespeed decals, but I think the yellow is a bit much on the spokes/tires. To each their own, though, and I'm sure it'll ride great.
