Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Online Stores

Probably a common question, but my search skillz suck:

What are some good online/mail order bicycle stores? I'm primarily interested in accessories and parts: - pump, gloves, shorts, tubes, etc. I really just don't have time to get down to the LBS everytime I need some little thing.

I've looked a bit at performance bicycles and REI. Recommendations?

Thanks 1 million.

Competitive Cyclist may not always have the cheapest prices, but their site is very informative and their service is excellent. If I can't get a team discount on something I'll order from them in most cases.

I placed my first order with Competitive Cyclist before Christmas and was surprised by their location, prices and quick shipping. Their web site leads you to believe they are a high end only store.

Performance, Nashbar, Colorado Cyclist, PricePoint, JensonUSA, Pro Bike Kit, Bike Tires Direct, Alfred E. Bike, Speedgoat, REI

There are more. Lately it seems like Nashbar has the best combination of price and selection, but it depends on what you're buying.

I try to patronize Harris Cyclery, simply because I'm so appreciative of Sheldon Brown's generousity in sharing his expertise on all things related to bicycling (and other subjects as well.) They carry a lot of stuff.

I like Western Bike Works, great service and good prices. They are one of the only places I know of who discount Sidi shoes, like $50 off. Check them out https://www.westernbikeworks.com/defa...1483&c=3853069

Colorado Cyclist is pretty good as well. I tend to order from Colorado Cylcist, Competitive Cyclist or Excel Sports.

If your looking for TT stuff All3sports is a good source.

i've personally had nothing but excellent customer service from Excel Sports Boulder!

that's more than i can say for Perfomance Bike, who still hasn't credited me for a return that i sent them 21 days ago. honestly, they have a great return policy and all, but it's not that great if you have to wait that long to get credit for return.

honestly, i would rather pay a bit more and shop locally, that way i get to see what i'm buying first hand. i would only order on the internet if i can't find what i need locally, and that's not usually the norm, except for hard to find stuff that's not in demand...

They have a good selection and instant price matching. I don't work for them, but they are just down the street from me so it was nice being able to order my Surly frame online and pick it up a few days later. They ship too, of course.

I bought some stuff from AirBomb about a month ago. The shipping wasnt the fastest in the world but they had good communication, great pricing on what I bought and they price matched AEBike on the stuff they weren't cheaper on.

I'd probably buy from them again.

Ordered from probikekit.com Christmas eve and the stuff arrived in about 5 or 6 business days. Also ordered a part from my LBS on Christmas eve. Got that part one day before the PBK part.

https://www.fullcycles.com/ I have made two recent purchases from this CO based retailer and have been very happy. Some of the prices they have are really outstanding and on both my recent orders, there was no charge for shipping.

This thread is a little outdated, but I can vouch for westernbikeworks.com currently. They generally have the best prices and if not they offer no-haggle price-matching. I've only used them for the basics so can't really tell you if they offer the best selection, but they definitely care about their web presence. Service has been outstanding on multiple occasions. They're always running rotating specials and shipping is reasonable if not free in most cases (I live on the east coast... do the math)
