Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bike Virginia

I just got flyer for 2007 Bike Virginia in mail. It looks interesting, in that it's not different stopovers each night. One ride from Hopewell to Williamsburg, then 3 days in Williamsburg with rides each day but they are out-and-back with Williamsburg as base. Then last day ride back to Hopewell. I like that format - don't have to pack up each day. It fits my style better.

Anyone else thinking about it?

Something to consider. Checked the website, looks good, but not overly informative. We are re-locating to the Richmond area this week. Any advice on other biking events in my new home state?

Also, if you're into any mountain biking, check out www.cyclingcentralva.org/forums and www.richmond-more.org.

You can also get on the RideFinder mailing list by contacting Winky Vivas. You'll get email notifications of mostly road rides all around the area. Just tell Winky to add you to the list: winkybikes@aol.com

Bikle Virginia

I rode Bike Virginia last year. Fun time - great riding - well organized.

Probably do it again this year.

The Tour de Chesapeake is a really fun weekend. Great roads and scenery is awesome. It's only a 1 day ride, but you can do your own thing Sunday. It's in May.

Thanks for the replies. I look forward to getting in the saddle, again. BTW, anyone seen a North American Moving Van???

Agees - I agree, first did business with them years ago over the Internet, great customer service.

Again, thanks.
