Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Unless you count Emma Snowsill and, potentially, Michellie Jones.

I've been out of the sport for a number of years and have not paid much attention to whose ridding what. I probably should have worded it differently.

I purchased a Felt F3C last fall and after some upgrades, wheels/brakes and gearing I love the ride.

I used to have an 06 F55 frame with my components on it. The frame was pretty sub-par and run of the mill. There was nothing special about it and the welds were very sloppy. It rode fine, but again, nothing special, just a rebadged generic Tiwanese carbon/aluminum frame. I do like Felts higher end carbon offerings however. I think a Specialized or Cannondale would be your best bet. Cannondales are tremendous values, especially if your buying their lower end models. For around $1000 you can buy a bike with a top notch race frame, something other manufacturers cant give you.

Im really smitten with my new 2006 F65. Havent had it for even a month but I looked at just about everything and went for this. From your OP it looks like you are cool with the idea of compact geometry but if you look at the normal felts like the F55, they are semi compact. For me, that was the clincher for this bike in terms of fit...and yeah, I shortened the stem from a 110 down to a 100 (54cm frame) like the other tour guy mentioned.

The black stays are is a gimmick? Sheesh. Good thing Felt isnt into racing stripes then, might be a class action suit against them for "looking" too fast.

Im sure you're right but the funny things is about 5 years ago there were no felt to be found around my towns and now this bike is one of the most pupular brand in LBS around me. I have one, everyone knows I post pics of it at every chance so Im gonna spare everyone for once!

Update on Felt Warranty

Its only been a week and I have been waiting to place my final story but I love the bike, looks, etc. And so far the service on warranty has been great and I have read of a few others that had the same results.

The bike is back in my apartment with its new 07 matte black F55 Frame and Fork. LBS did a great job getting the warranty handled and moving all my parts over to the new frame at no cost to me. Got a little ride in last night and will have to get some more adjustments but it feels good to be able to ride again...even if it is in the 40's in sunny Florida.

Since the F55 is the same frame as the F70, I assume I'll continue to enjoy the ride. I'm thinking about a TT bike and my short list is down to Felt and Cervelo. I'll probably end up with a new Felt because of my enjoyment so far, the previously mentioned value (higher components for the price, etc) and my experience with the company regarding the warranty.
I also had a similar story except I bought a 2005 F65 and started getting a strange creaking late in its first season that turned out to be a problem with the frame. So I took it in. Felt said no problem but I guess they ran out of replacement frames and it took a couple extra weeks to get back. Of course when my replacement frame showed up as a 2004 SC1 frame all was good

Aside from the wheels, I've had no complaints with the bike and I'd have no problem recommending Felt friends or anyone else.
