Make a Handlebar Camera Mount For A Buck!
Don't say I never gave you anything. I made this tonight with under a dollar's work of hardware. Like 87 cents, I think.
I don't recommend it for a mountain bike (too much shock), but it would work fine on a road bike.
Click attached PDF.

Now that's one inexpensive mount! Nice work.
I have an Ultrapod I attached to my stem. It also attaches well to the top tube just under the seat to get a cool forward pict which will include the handlebars (another BF member did this). My Ultrapod I cost $13.95. It is easy to attach/remove (no tools required). It is very stable and isn't going anywhere. Click my website in my sig and go to my photos page if you want to see it mounted on my bike and/or want to see a sample video I took with my digital cam. Hopefully my next ride I will get some good video.
I have a Casio Z700 digital cam. It is suppose to have unlimited movie mode. However, last Friday I recorded over 30 minutes of video. It would not play back and gave an error. On a computer it said the file was 0 MB. I tried recording over 30 min again at home with the same result. 5 min videos turn out fine, but not the longer ones. Don't know what the deal is. This is for anyone ... you might want to test your camera out before you go running it for an hour and then find out it really didn't record.

Awesome. I had been thinking about buying a camera mount (and a new camera for that matter) so the timing of this post is perfect.

*classic!*
Nice work on that mount though! That's a pretty cool solution (and I'm a big fan of "cheap"). I just might give that a try some time. It might make for some cool team video or something.

I did something similar with a Mag-Lite AA 3-watt LED flashlight on my handlebar for early morning roadie rides. The rides started when there was (just) enough early morning light to see the road. I would ride 7 miles to get to the meeting point so I needed a light to see to get there. I used a plastic clamp around the handlebar and a conduit hanger to hold the flashlight. It works great. I used inner tube rubber inside the hanger just to keep from scratching up the flashlight.

I did something similar a few months ago:
The only problem I had was removing the camera quickly in case I wanted a shot from a different angle. So I bought a quick release tripod head that attaches between the mount and the camera:

One of you guys should refine that a little, slap a faux carbon cover, use a ti bolt, and market it...
I bet you could sell a few...
