Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

tendonitis and rotor q-rings

It seems whenever I train/race really hard my achilles tendon flares up. I'm going to get properly fitted soon but I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and found that switching to rotor q-rings helped heal it. I welcome any other suggestion as to what I can do in the meantime to get myself back to 100%.

I wear orthotics for a foot problem that cause some similar achilles issues. The thing that helped me out the most was stretching every day. From a seated position I use a towel in a U shape hooked around the ball of my foot and pull. this stretch was a lot more effective for me than the one where you prop your toe on a curb or other incline. I stretch for 8 seconds, contract for 8, stretch for 8. the key is to do it every day and be patient.
