Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How many pairs of cycling shorts do you have?

I was looking at some new cycling shorts the other day and my wife said...."another pair....how many do you need?" So I began to wonder what others have in their collections. So here it is.

6 pairs. (2 are old and crappy now. I didn't think that was too bad.)

How many do you have?

I generally voluntarily take one day off the bike per week so 6 is a good number, IMO. Curiously enough, that's what I have.

Urg, unfortunately just one pair - a pair of Pearl Izumi Attacks. I need another, but I'm too poor. I have to constantly wash em (and I bought em' used for $20 on Craigslist, to give an idea of the funds available to me).

3 bibs and 3 shorts.
2 of my bibs are really nice and one pair of my shorts are really nice. The others are for trainer use and mountain biking.

2 Pair of the Louis Garneau Power-something-or-other bibs. I really like these bibs, have the waffle-style chamois.

2 Pair of old bibs for using on the trainer.

I'd like to have about 6 pairs, to last a week.

4 pairs of Voler bibs, which I use these all the time.

2 pairs of Supergo shorts (same as Performance Century shorts) that I bought when I first start riding. I don't use them much anymore. Only for short trainer sessions or if I run out of clean Voler bibs.

1 pair of Santini Fluild Gel Twist bibs, which really don't like. IMO they are worse than the Supergo shorts.

Yegh, I know, I know..

Not enough money. I washed em' thrice before wearing em, though. And I had boxers on the first five or six rides, so I guess ignorance was good in this case.

3 bibs (2 PI, 1 performance), 1 shorts (PI), 2 bib tights (PI and Demarchi), couple base layers... plus 3 pairs MTB shorts (Loui Garneau).... enough that if you add up what I spent on them I could have bought another bike and just rode around in jogging shorts

I guess I shouldn't say anything, because I'll buy used jerseys and wash them, myself.

In terms of how many pairs of shorts - four. But I really only wear two. I do laundry a lot...

1 pair of PI Attacks for dink around days.
1 pair of PI Ultrasensors when I'm wearing my 'man-patches' for races.
1 pair of Castellis when my testosterone is naturally high and the boys are Jupiter-like. Typically after race day.

Way too many: 2 PI Ultrasensor, 2 PI Microsensor, 1 PI Attack, 2 Giordan Tenax Laser, 1 Castelli YPro3, 1 Hincapie, 1 Specialized BG Pro, 6 pairs of Pace beater bibs, 2 Performance Ultra bibs, 2 Performance Century, and 2-3 more pair that I can't remember the brand name. I just picked up two team kits today and the bibs are Bergamo. These are all bibs. I only owned one pair of shorts and trashed them after I got my first bib.

I have 5 pairs of shorts. I have 1 pair of tights, but I'm always wearing shorts under them because the chamois is too loose.

I'm pretty fast at hand washing by now.
