Anyone tried the new Ultegra PD-6620s?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone tried the new Ultegra PD-6620s?

The Ultegra SPD-SL pedal seems to have changed for 2007 from the PD-6610 to the PD-6620 with a wider platform. Has anyone tried these yet? Are they better/worse than the PD-6610 that are being discounted to <$100?

Honestly I can't tell the difference between this years version, last years, or couple years back version.

Won't be available through US distribution until the beginning of February, so I doubt anyone has ridden the new Ultegra or Dura-Ace pedals yet.

I was drooling over the new D-A pedals and the new custom Shimano shoe in Bicycling today.

If you are asking about the difference between the 9 speed Ultegra pedals and the 10 speed Ultegra pedals, I have the answer. I bought a 9 speed all Ultegra bike 3 years ago and a 10 speed all Ultegra bike last year. I thought the pedals on the new bike were identical. The very first time I rode it, the pedals felt wider and more stable. As soon as I got home I looked at the pedals on the new bike and realized that they are a little bit wider at the widest point. A definite improvement that I still notice as I alternate bikes. I wear the SIDI Genius 4 shoes which flex some. It might not be as noticable with stiffer shoes.

He was talking about these new pedals not the current ones:

I know that in the Dura-Ace model they were able to trim about 8 grams off the total weight between last years and this years. I would venture a guess that if there is a weight difference it is insignificant.

Just checked mine, the Ultegra PD-6610 I have are about 309g for the pair. the new PD-6620 is advertised at 310g for the pair, so no they don't weigh more.

I didnt ride them but had them in my hands at a shimano conference. Looks really nice and light. Might switch over to shimano pedals.

They do use the same cleat.

I was looking, and *gasp* touching, a pair yesterday at a shop. They look good, but I tend not to buy pedals based on looks.

I may be the only one that prefers the look of the slimmer profile of the 06 model.

Why the change? Other than looks, how is the 6620 supposed to be better than the 6610? Is it really just a style change to pry more money out of us?
