Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Alasdair's New Ride (w/Pics)

I have junked my GMC Denali Bike and gotten a REAL bike - a 2006 Fuji Team Pro. I had it on deposit at the LBS until I knew what my tax return was gonna look like. Got the bike today. Unfortunately, I was not able to ride very much today (only about 10 miles) and my computer wheel magnet won't fit on the bladed spokes (I was planning on upgrading [EDIT] the computer [EDIT] anyway).

So, when I got back from the ride, I snapped some photos. And yeah, I know... FLIP IT!

2006 Fuji Team Pro

Fork Shot

Crank and RD Shots - yeah some road grunge

Nice looking ride.

Why are you going to upgrade the bladed spokes?

Nice ride! I've always been a huge fan of the Team Pro. Don't worry about flipping the stem. If it is comfortable like it is, leave it. Enjoy!!!

Yeah. That's why it is unflipped. Actually, the LBS had it flipped down and I had it flipped up for a more comfortable ride.

Nope. My LBS is a Motorcycle shop that expanded to bikes since the owner is a roadie. I like the idea that he doesn't exactly have to make a lot of money on the bikes since he already makes tons on the motorsports side of things - even though in his first 2 months of bike business, he has probably outsold our other "LBS" for the whole of last year.

Nice. Thanks for the life-size(and larger) photos .The 12k weave carbon looks great. I wish the Pedal Force RS I'm waiting for, used 12k instead of 3k.

What good is having a 4.3Megapixel camera if I don't use most of them!?

Yeah. I do love the weave... especially when the light catches it just right!

Ooops.

What crank is that on there?

I don't know why exactly, but I've always had a place in my heart for Fuji. Maybe it's because they represent such great bang-for-the-buck quality and value.

That's better!

It's a Truvativ Rouleur Compact. I haven't heard really great things about it, but I've got no compaints yet. Besides, an Ultegra or DA Crank will look sweet on the bike anyway!

When I first started looking for a new bike, I fell in love with the Fuji's. I drifted to Giant for a bit, but as soon as my LBS made me an offer on the Team Pro, I couldn't refuse!

When you say you junked the Denali, you mean you donated it to charity, right? I'm sure some one could use it.....

I have a Rouleur CF triple crank. Never had a problem with them, until I changed to an Ultegra double. Then I noticed a big improvement in shifting. You could just upgrade the chainrings if you wanted to later.

I had just this week blown out the cup & cone BB for the 5th time. I am going to give the bike to my brother-in-law with the part number for a seal cart BB.

Wow congrats! I was watching the your whole Denali project with keen interest from the start. (I always wondered when you'd buy a 'real' bike )

I seriously considered buying that same bike recently. It appeared to be a well built bike, great bang for the $!

Happy riding.

The Fuji site lists the DuraAce RD as stock on 2006 Team Pros. Check the specs here.
