Bike headlight question

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bike headlight question

The other night I saw 3 riders with the brightest bike lights I have ever seen. From a distance I thought there were a car with 3 headlights or 3 motorcycles.
Any idea which lighting system they were using?

They could have been using any number of lights... there are a bunch of super-bright HID models out there that are similar in brightness to a car or motorcycle.

It's probably a HID light if it's white. If yellow, then very bright halogens. It could also be a high powered LED light that was aimed right at you. The LED's look almost the same as HID's but they usually have less sidespill.

I've been told that my L&M ARC Li-Ion (HID) headlight looks "car like". But as others have said, it could be any number of different models.
