pedals?
just bought a caad 9.5 used. Thinking about clipless or the like after years of toe clips on my old bike.
But I don't know much about them and shoes.
I'm a casual over 50 cycler. 10-25 miles 3 - 5 days a week (weather permitting). Not looking to drop silly $ on these.
I see some discussion as to road vs mountain clipless. And a variety of methodologies.
I want to be able to walk on the shoes if only for a few minutes.
Any input would be welcome.

I'd recommend SPDs with mountain biking shoes. Cheap, good for casual cycling, and the walkability of mountain biking shoes is great. I had a rear tire blowout 5 km from home and was too lazy to repair the tube so I just walked home. I was glad I had mountain biking shoes. And, I bought SPDs with mountain biking shoes because I was a poor undergrad at the time and they were cheap.

Check out the Shimano PD-520 pedal with the SH-M086L MTB sport shoes. Great system for a reasonable price.

Also check out Lake cycling mtn shoes. Reasonable prices and excellent shoes, like their MX190 OR MX165's. Pedals something like the PDM520's mentioned above would be fine.
