Help me pick a stem
 

Ive current got an FSA OS-150 on one of my bikes but I need something with a little more rise to it. Anything from 12-17 degrees would probably be plenty. I've got a little too much drop between the saddle and the bars and need to take some of it up.

I'm having trouble finding anything other than a Bontrager stem and none of the local shops stock what I'm looking for. Can anyone suggest anything that can be ordered online? I was looking at the Thompson X2 at Performance as I have a Thomspon seatpost on the bike but I think their rise info on that stem is wrong as they list it at 31.8 :)

I'm open to any decent stem, tho.. just dont want some $20.00 piece of junk.

That's not the rise, that's the bar diameter. I ride Thomson X4 stems (4 bolt face) on every bike and wouldn't ride anything else. It's always good to match your post and stem...:D

The rise is a +17 or 90 degree. Thomson makes their X2 and X4 stems in different rises though.

That's what I was thinking.. I had an Aerus seatpost on the bike but had to change to the Thompson because the Aerus post wouldnt stay up.

What about one of the adjustable stems? Look makes one, and I think Profile or someone else, too.

I would second the Thomson X4.

I believe Ritchey makes the WCS 4-Axis in a 17 as well as the standard 7...

I just installed an X2 for the same reason. 17 degree rise, and I believe about 145g. The two bolt clamp on the bar seems stong enough.

Just found Performance does have the X4 under MTB stems. Guess I'll go ahead and order one since the weight is the same as the X2. Performance only has the 10 degree model but I think 17 might be too much anyway. I dont need much for it to be just about right anyways.

Your bike is probably too small for you in height. That's why with compact geometry, head tube height is very important - you can do a lot with seat post height, a lot less with a low front end.

Plus as soon as you post your 'upgrade', folks here, including myself are going to get on your case to 'flip it'. :)

Haha.. well, I think the frame may be a tad on the small size for me but the next size up is WAY too big so I had to pick the lesser of two evils. The sizing goes from a 56 up to a 59. The bike is rideable now but I wanted to get the setup very close to my Blue. I dont have like 7 inches of drop or anything, it's only about a half inch more than the Blue. I like being able to go from bike to bike and the feel stay pretty much the same. I tend to switch bikes up quite a bit depending on the ride Im going to.

This frame is a tad wonky because the headtube is REALLY short. I was going to exchange it for the 59 but the TT on the 59 is kind of long so I think a stem with a little more rise to it will be perfect.
