Pegoretti
Does anyone have a Pegoretti? What do you think of it? What do people who don't own one think of it? Can you get a custom paint job or does it have to be the ones that they have?

a Pegoretti. I like mine a lot. It is light, has a very nice ride on rough pavement, is
stiff and climbs well. My paint is the "Green Arrows" scheme, which I like much better
in sunlight than on some web sites. I believe you can get custom paint jobs, but you
will probably have to wait quite a while for delivery. Even delivery of a standard
frame can take a while.

Eventually he'll stop making frames, reason enough to get one now. Gotta be considered the greatest builder still building by hand, sorry brain bayliss and richard sachs. his responsorium (sp?) frame looks amazing, and being a painter i love the hand painted jobs. go to competetive cyclist and read about that bike, it's a pretty interesting and amusing read.
Eventually this year i plan to place an order for a custom steel frame. It may not be a Pegoretti but it'll probably closely resemble one on paper (geometry wise).

If you get the Columbus stainless, don't get it fully painted. Thats the point of that tubing, it does not need to be painted, which saves weight. Italian paint is also not as strong as American paint, due to their pesky environmental laws, so his bikes tend to chip more. I have seen a couple of his custom jobs up close though, and they are amazing.

even if it did, the last look i'd want to have on my bike is something referencing 80s NY neo-expressionism.
in the future, please spare us the art school musings.
