Rad - what is this frame worth?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ah yeah....I didn't see the 50cm....my resident expert eBayer status has officially been revoked.

Plus I just pulled the above number out of my ass anyway.

Hmmm...sweet looking frame - but I am unfamiliar with the brand and the builder. Pacenti lugs are oh-so-nice.

Smaller size will keep the bidding down but I will predict $7-800. And, yes, I did just pull that one out of my......errrr.....handbag.

Matching stem is a real nice touch.
I ride a 50cm frame. Too bad I don't need yet another nice frame.

I don't think it will go for over $400. Paint job is pretty ugly.

Really. That frame is hideous. All it needs is (specify your favorite rap 'artists') pedaling it through Hollywood......

i'm not crazy about the color but that's a sweet frame. looks like it's in good shape, figure new that had to be over 2k... i love the way lugged 1 1/8th" stems look.
if it fits you and you like it, it's worth 800$, but i bet it sells for less.

It retails new for $1,200.

http://www.sadilah.com/products.html

It is over three years old and is small - my guess is $350-$450.

It's kinda over the top even fo me - and I love steel lugged frames. To me, this one lacks subtle grace - those lugs are kinda in yer face. It's used, too, which will hold price down. It already has $350 bid - that may be final price, or, some small rider in Japan may bid a lot more for it. If I rode a 50cm I know I would not pay much for it.

I'll tell you one thing it's going to sell for, more than it would have had you not posted that link. You just increased the amount of interest in the auction by essentially advertising it on the forum. (not that I have even the slightest interest in it I ride a 54cm)

No I have enough bikes right now. I just saw it, thought it was pretty unique and wanted to see what others thought. TT is too short for me but most 50cm frames do work for me. When I'm looking for a steel ride I will put the builder on my list.

Maybe. But I can't imagine more than 1 or 2 people on this forum that truly would be interested and prepared to buy. And chances are pretty good that those 1 or 2 already knew about it and aren't posting in this thread.

When Vanilla had a frame on Ebay back in November - from the company itself - the news was discussed on every major bike forum including this one, Serotta, cyclingforums.com and others. Of the hundreds that posted, only one or 2 actually bid, including me. I spoke with the guy who won it as he was having second thoughts and I was the runnerup - he had no idea that it had been plastered all over the net. In the end, he got it for $10 over what I felt it was worth and not an overly inflated price.

can someone please explain to me why this frame is worth so much?

all i see when i look at it is that it looks butt ugly.

i am obviously missing something important.

what about this frame makes it worth more than a brand new trek 1000?

There is something funky looking about those lugs too. Maybe it's the paint job, but they resemble thick stamped lugs typical of gas pipe specials...

Regarding the lugs - the gold color doesn't help.

The whole color scheme reminds me of the tux I wore to my prom in 1978. You know the one....powder blue, poofy pirate shirt, the works.

Absolutely. Over the calf.

Actually, I like the blue seeing as the mid-60's marine blue Corvette is about my favorite car of all time. But I don't like it with the gold lugs - I think silver would be more to my taste. Now, black with the gold lugs would be nice....
