Getting new Clipless + Shoes

Have been borrowing my friends Shimano somethings (we aren't sure) and now I want my own.
Also using some real crappy 2 velcro-strap shimano shoes.

So here's what I'm looking at:
Time RXS Carbon - $120 (ebay)
http://www.timesportusa.com/rxsrecal...-Ti-carbon.jpg

Specialized BG Comp Road Shoe - $130 (local shop)

Why?
Pedals - good comments all around (besides speedplay)
Shoes - once again, good comments, and cheap since my feet are still growing

Is this a bad decision?

Those are good choices. But I think Look Keo Classic would be cheaper and work just as well, since you can adjust cleat release tension on the Keo. Specialized shoes are great, but since you are still growing, I would suggest the Sport model. It's a bit cheaper but would serve you just fine. My 2 cents:D

Cannot comment on the pedals (I've got some entry level Shimano pedals that I'll probaly upgrade to Speedplay when I get some extra cash), but the shoes are a good choice (assuming they fit). Although you might want to check some other places for the shoes to get them cheaper. The ones you're showing are this year's model and $130 is list price. The local shops around here are lower than that and most have left-overs from last year:

I just picked up a pair for $70.

There must be some advantage to the Time ones I would hope? :/ Not to insult the Keo in any way but there must be a reason that Time's reputation is relatively high? Maybe I'll just go out and test the two.

Sage - Thanks, yea was considering those, but didn't see them at B + L. Maybe another shop holds them, ill go bike around to check out the stores. I'm praying my feet grow because my bike is red/black/white and I love color matching equipment. For some reason, this year's $130 shoes aren't selling any lower anywhere.

Time RXS Carbon and the Time RXS are basically the same except in material. I use the RXE, and it's only missing one feature you don't really need from the Time RXS line. Save your money, but if you want to spend, that's up to you. Overall decent pedal, walkable cleats is a bonus without having to carry around cleat covers.

Pity RXS is grey. I need the black red scheme (I'm spoiled).

Just curious...the Keo weigh so much less than these (splitting hairs for many of us, I realize) Why not consider those?

I like the idea of the Time Cafe' cleats though...interesting..

I bought the same pedals off ebay/BikeIsland last fall. I've only ridden them on my rollers but I like them. You definitely know when you're clipped in. Clipping out it sounds like you've just snapped the pedal in half. :)

This shouldn't be a problem but be sure to write the seller to make sure that the pedals have already been fixed under the Time recall. Check the Time page (http://www.timesportusa.com/) and it shows what to look for on the pedal to make sure.
