More Craigslist: this one's a bummer

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

ummm, I don't think "dented" quite describes it. why would anyone pay $1 for that frame let alone $200?

Because you can take it to a welder and get it restored?

Looks like more than "take it to a welder" for that one.

This new frame has damage from shipping.
Looks more like the ****er left it on his roof and drove into a garage...

I second that one. So it just becomes an expensive piece of wall art then? It would certainly be a conversation starter. "Nice frame -- wait, wtf?"

Doesn't look like the BB has any lithium grease on it, though...

Where are all the "steel is real" crowd.. Isnt that the reason to buy a steel bike. You can get it repaired. Independent Fabrications does repairs. You could probalby get that fixed for 500.00 and have a sweet bike.

True. A CF bike taking that sort of damage would have exploded.

Yes I subscribed to this philosophy as well. I bought a NOS Bianchi frame for $100, cost to replace downtube = $128. And i'd still have a crashed frame in the end. Meaning it's not worth it.

That was a very good price as well from my LBS.

Out of curiosity, I wrote to IF about this frame and received this reply:

It would cost you about $400 to replace the stays plus the $375 for the repaint so you are talking a good amount of money and that is only if the stays are the only things damaged on the frame which I doubt. It doesn’t look like a good deal to me.

Sorry

If IF says it's a bad deal, I gotta believe 'em.

I'm sure the seller had already contacted IF and got the same message...so the seller is trying to unload it to the unaware. Of course if you're a welder or friends with one, you can get it repaired cheap...and then just get it to a body shop to restore the paint.

Well...he won't accept $25 for it, that's for sure.

I made an offer, he told me I should be a comedian.
