DA Drive Train Issue

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

DA Drive Train Issue

Just got in from a winter ride and trying to sort out an issue in my Dura Ace drive train. About mid ride I noticed that when pushing higher gears (in either chain ring) the drive train felt rough. I just replaced the cassette with a 12-25 / 9 speed and when I am using the largest cogs it feels pretty smooth but the more I upshift the rougher it feels. I did not replace the chain and was previously riding a 11-23. Any suggestions .... should I replace the chain? Also, I am using a brand new set of hubs and the shell is 9/10speed compatable but I have used the spacer provided with the hub to use the 9 speed cassette.

If you didn't replace the chain at the same time as when you replaced your cassette I would recommend that you start by replacing it. Chains "stretch" and if yours is heavily worn then it will not mesh as well with a new cog. The problem would be more pronounced on smaller cogs than larger ones.

Then again this could just be simple RD adjustment. Make sure you've chacked all of your adjustments first....

Yes ... both are 9 speed. I have thought about moving to 10 speed but am not convinced any gain would be worth the $$$'s to convert. Also, switching to 10 speed would render my back up wheelset useless.

Possibly just the cassette and possible freebody.
