What are the differences between these two Ultegra pedals ??

Hi All,

Comtemplating picking up some Ultegra pedals when I spring for new shoes in a month or so. 98% of the listings I find on the web are for these:

http://probikekit.com/display.php?code=D1017

However, I have also stumbled across several listings for these:

http://aebike.com/page.cfm?action=de...=30&SKU=PD6630

What are the differences between the 6610's and the 6630's ????

Thanks !

J.

If i had to guess...model year. I bought my ultegras last year, they were '05's...and much less correct me if i be wrong though.

Well the funny thing is, I can't find the 6630's on the Shimano site....at least the North American version of their site......maybe they're a European or Japanese version ???

One is a 6610 and the other is a 6630. Cosmetic looks set aside................essentially the same pedal. Maybe a weight difference and slight other differences maybe but basically the same.

I'm sure there's a little more to it than that.....

Neither can i, and the item is "unavailable"...perhaps brand spanking new?

Never seen the 6630 before, but it looks wider, so maybe it'd offer slightly better power transfer?

the differences from the pictures appear to be the plate is removable on the 6630. The 6630 also has a small squarish platform in the center of the pedal where the 6610 doesn't have this. Based on the two pictures I'd guess the 6630 was a lighter pedal since the 6610 looks like there is more material making up that pedal. That's figuring everything being equal.

The 6620 is the new Ultegra pedal. It uses the same cleat as the current ultegra pedal, but is slightly wider and replaces the plastic insert with a metal plate. There is no 6630.

Eventually yes, when Shimano starts delivering the new model and the 6610s sell out. I thinking about waiting for the new model, but the sale prices on the 6610 were too hard to ignore.

AEBike has them @ $98....of course they're not available yet but here:

I am trying to find out when they'll hit the market.....chatted with someone at Excel Sports but he did not know.....

I ran into a Shimano employee a few days ago and he showed me the new pedals - his were Dura-Ace but they looked like the 6630 above. They are new for 2007 and replace the plastic piece with a metal one for longer service life. Also, they are wider, giving more support and less hot spots.
