Beware Of Ebikestop.com

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Beware Of Ebikestop.com

I purchased some Pearl Izumi products from this site, and one of the items was defective. I wanted to exchange it, and have e-mailed them back several times to no avail. Additionally, the phone number to their Colorado Springs showroom goes directly into voicemail and there is no way to actually contact them. Yes, they have some really good prices, but their follow-up service is a bit suspicious. I would suggest avoiding this site and purchasing from them. Spend a couple extra dollars in order to ensure follow-up service if it is needed.

Have you tried to contact the BB to see if they have had any other complaints?

A great way to get their attention is to dispute the charge, most CC companies are good about these things.

I think I may have bought from them on E-Bay as well. If so I had no problems but I did not have an issue either. I hope it works out for you.

I just received an order from them today. I ordered a pump and the Park TL-10 tire lever "shop" tool. They sent me the correct pump along with the TL-1 plastic 3some of portable levers. I'm sure some will want to play devil's advocate and say "well its only a digit away from being correct." OK, but there's a price difference of $20 and when you look at the invoice that the packer has to initial off next to each item...yeah. I guess I know which shop to avoid when in CO Springs.

I bought a bike rack from them, and they were very responsive via email and I was able to return it a full 45 days later for a full refund. Works well enough for me--

I have made a number of purchases from them over the last two years with no problems. I actually received my most recent purchase yesterday via priority mail. Doesn't mean that they don't or won't screw up, but my experience has been fine.

I started that thread and ordered from ebikestop (order came in yesterday). Sent them an email but noticed they're closed sat-sun. I really hope they'll work with me.

Thought their name sounded familiar. I bought quite a few mountain bike components from them this past winter. Didn't have any problems.

I don't know about the store you mentioned, but you might consider contacting PI directly and explain your problem; their site boasts (or at least it used to) that their stuff has a lifetime warranty.

Good luck -

i've had an order in with them for 5 days and no news on if or when it is shipping. i emailed and said if anything is holding it up i can remove it. still no response.

slowest, most unresponsive service of any online bike shop i've experienced.

I just use them for price matching, normally with Jenson.

You didn't say how long you have given them to respond before calling for a complete boycott.

OK, apologies in advance, but this is going to be a rant. BBB's are crap! A contractor I used told me this years ago, and said they pestered him to register, mainly because they wanted his fees. They are a business oriented organization, not consumer oriented.

Case in point. When I had a SERIOUS problem with an unscrupulous roofer, I contacted the appropriate BBB, and guess what - no response, nada, not even after 6 months. I finally wrote them a "thanks a lot for nothing you frickin' jerks" letter.

Who turned out to be very good, was California's "Contractors State License Board" (CSLB). Maybe I just got lucky with a new and dedicated employee (you know, before she burnt out), but she essentially hounded this contractor until the problem was fixed.

OK, all done. Thx for listening.

I've ordered a few things from ebikestop over the past 2 years - never had a problem. Sometimes things were a little slow to ship, but I always received them. I've never had to deal with their customer service for a return or anything though.

PI's warranty service is great. I sent them a pair of microsensor shorts that were getting worn on the inner thigh. In my letter I stated that I would be happy to pay extra if they would swap them for bibs. A week later they sent me some new bibs. No extra charge.

Same here. I try to always use either Jenson, Price Point or Universale Cycles and price match anything that I find cheaper.

I recently ordered from them and it went well. Their shipping is a bit slow, but the prices are good. I actually changed my order by email after I submitted and they were responsive via email (no phone).

Maybe I should ride down to ebikestop's showroom and tell the guy what people are saying....good and bad. I've talked to him a couple times.

The owner gave me some good Sheldon-ish direction on a vintage bottom bracket issue once, so he's at least somewhat knowledgeable. Nevertheless, waiting for bike parts and not getting adequate response sucks.
