Here's my RS. Took a while to get potos, because I keep forgetting my camera at work. 15.6 lbs on the bathroom scale (without the bottle and saddlebag of course).
Got the photo working now!

I can't see the photos either, apparently you cannot direct link to the pictures this way.
Pic snipped.

i recently had an RS built up and have so far had three rides (187km in total). during all three rides, i noticed that my heel occasionally strike the chainstay. this has never happened on my Specialized Roubaix Elite. anyone else have had the same experience? cheers.

that's a beautiful bike you've built up there, ambiguous. is the backdrop for that picture inspiration point in the presidio by any chance?

i lived at pine & lyon for years... i can't even begin to count the hours i spent taking in that exact same view. i also used to volunteer with the ggnra invasive species removal crew, and spent even more time just below that little wall picking ice plant and the like. anyway, i could almost hear the parrots looking at the picture. are you in the city proper, or just for enjoyable loops across the golden gate on your new bike? enjoy it! (the bike and the city!)

Interesting.....yes I'm in the city proper. Lower Haight
The lookout is on my usual route to the GG Bridge frommy place. Almost all of my rides pass by there. You still in the city?

anyway, i measured out the width of the chainstay at the mid point of where my heel strikes, which was about 13.5cm (outside to outside). The Roubaix, on the other hand, measures just under 11.5cm. and here are some photos to illustrate how wide the RS chainstays are in comparison to the Roubaix and some explanatory notes:
Photo 1: The heel of my shoe (Spec Carbon Pro, size 9) sits on the RS' chainstay (this is not where the heel strike occurs but just to illustrate how wide the chainstays are).
Photo 2: The heel of my shoe is no where close to the Roubaix's chainstay at the maximum inwards rotation.
Photo 3: The heel of my shoe at the point where it strikes the chainstay on the RS.
Photo 4: The heel of my shoe no where close to the Roubaix's chainstay at approximately the same point where it would strike the chainstay on the RS.
by the way, i'm not complaining about the bike; the RS is far more responsive than the Roubaix. i was only wondering whether i'm the only one who is experiencing this. so far that seems to be the case.

Wow, I am going to check mine and post some pics too, maybe we can get down to the bottom of this and see what adjustments could be made. Just curious, is it only on the crank side or are both heels rubbing?
BTW please post a pic or two of the complete bike.

(edit)
I checked my RS with size 45 Diadoras, and my heels do get close to the chainstays(when my feet are straight). they won't strike the chainstay, but my cleats are mounted so that my heels can float out quite a bit.

'Sorry to read of your misfortune, boOOon; heal up quick and get back on the road before too long.
I'll have to take a look at the stays, too, though I have a smaller shoe size, but I mount my cleat as outboard as I can and I've never noticed any issues with clearance at all..

Sorry to hear about your luck, I hope you get well quickly.
This little mis-hap entitles you to a free membership to the Crashed RS Owners Club. It's quite exclusive, as you're the 3 member to join(Where's Waldo, and Myself are the other 2).
Did the car hit you, or force you to crash?

I was a mile from home(looking at the desert bloom), descending at about 35 on chipseal and making a right turn, when I hit a bit of gravel and the rear tire started to slide. I was able to stay upright until I ran out of road.
The frame is fine and so is the rear derailleuer(other than the battle scars) the der hanger got a slight bend, but I was able to fix that. The brifter still works too, but it's so scared that I'll replace it with one from PBK, and save the old set for a future CX build.
The wounds are pretty minor(road rash + some bruises) compared to some of the ones I've gotten on my mountain bike.

I'm thinking about getting some of these decals for the RS. I'll probably wait until it's warrranty expires to apply and clearcoat it though.

Built in Nov 2006, I'll add my photos to the collection. Now improved and lightened with Mike Garcia Niobium 30 rim / White Industries hub / CX-ray spoke wheelset.
