Car Accident Incites New Frame Purchase
Ugh..
So I got hit on my ride in to work today, and while I came out pretty much unscathed my frame is bent irreparably. Bent and cracked seatstays. :( The frame was a 64cm Viner Competition from gvhbikes.com, but they no longer sell them in that size. It was deda 12.5 lugged steel. Not the lightest or stiffest, but a great-riding steel frame that I enjoyed for the 5k miles or so I rode it. So what options do I have for around $1k or less for a new frame? I'm only interested in steel frames really, and I need something that comes really big. The only thing I've seen so far today was the Cinelli Super Corsa from gvhbikes, which comes in a 64cm that has a 61.5 top tube (the same length as on my Viner). Do folks like this Cinelli frame? Any other ideas? Thanks a bunch and ride safe, boze |
Driver info? Did you call it in? Their insurance should be buying it, not you...

A friend of mine has the Raysport copy of the Super Corsa and he really likes it.
Personally, I'd be hard pressed to pay $1100 for a 4lb. frame with downtube shifters. |
I have a friend who has 2 of those Cinellis from GVH and he loves them...likes them even more than his Serotta Fierte Ti/CF.
I haven't ridden one yet but will get a chance to this summer. |
yeah, i guess the old-school cinelli isn't the best choice. heavy and classic. i have an ultegra 9 group to put on it and an easton sl90 full carbon fork that would look dumb as heck on a frame like that.
i wrote a starter email to curtlo - that looks like a nice option. thanks baxtefer. i guess custom is how it's gonna be, huh? |
