Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A little brake weight weenie porn. 0G-07 Ti

I just received my little box with my new little brakes in it. I have been debating on getting these brakes for quite some time now. I finally just decided what the heck and placed my order for them last week. They arrived over at my parent's home yesterday but I wasn't able to pick them up until today. I can't wait to get these installed on my bike. As slow as I am every little bit of weight savings will help.

Just for comparison, here's a picture of the brakes they will be replacing. Just a small difference, 182 grams (0.4 pounds).

According to the website it says those pads will work with either. I'm hoping they will be alright on my aluminum rims. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of pad there though.

Cool. I have the OG-06 Ti on my bike. Pretty big weight savings for such a small part, looks cool, and works every bit as well as the DuraAce brakes they replaced.

Mine came with two, blue cork ones for carbon (useless) and black ones for aluminium. If yours came with carbon specific ones along with aluminium ones, I'll take the carbon ones off your hands.

Unfortunately the 07's only come with the yellow pads.

This is from the Competitive Cyclists website. May be on the zero gravity site as well but I'm on dialup. I take what I can get.

The 0G-07 Ti come with a set of four Swiss Stop Yellow King brake pads. These are amazing pads -- ideal for both aluminum and carbon rims. They're light (of course!), but they also shine in terms of speed modulation and lock-up power.

for the true WW the yellow swiss stop pads are quite a bit heavier(note the 197g vs. the 168 for the 06's) I am really fond of the koolstop carbon pads and they work on both alum./carbon

That's weird. These weigh 167 grams with no pads at all. Are you sure about the scale that was used for the 06's that weighed 168 (with the carbon pads)?

I used to have a set of the Cane Creeks. Those things scared me to death on numerous occasions around some of the steep, twisty WV descents. After a final close call with a car on a sharp turn where my brakes just laughed at me I got rid of them.

Weird. The SCR-5's are great brakes with terrific stopping power, even better with the Mags 2 pads... everybody I know has great things to say about them.

I would not. I have a set of ultegra calipers (same as the dura ace pretty much) and 06 zero gravity ti's, the ultegras are a bit stiffer while the zero g's feel more mushy (more modulation) from the initial contact but both of them come to the same clamping power having gone down the same hills at just about the same speeds.
