Welcome me to the club...I just got a Colnago

Well, last night I went to go meet a dealer who had a New old stock 2005 Colnago MIX frameset for sale (basically the same thing as the Dream HP) that he bought for a customer but was not the correct size, I've always wanted a Colnago but as you all know they are not cheap by any means. I saw this thing of beauty, instantly fell in love with it, he told me he'd give it to me for $750.00, retail was $2000.00. What can I say, I'm a sucker for Italian, bought it right on the spot and now I've gotta figure out which one of my bikes I need to sell so I can build it up :P The frame below is the CT2 but it has the EXACT same paint scheme that my MIX has on it, only difference is that my MIX only has carbon seat stays instead of the entire carbon rear triangle.

http://biketiresdirect.com/Images400x267/CNCT2-1.jpg

So, my new list of bikes, not all built up but a good portion of them are:
2002 Orbea Zonal Road (Crit Bike)
2005 Orbea Lobular 100 (RR/CR Bike)
2005 Colnago MIX <---NEW FAMILY MEMBER!!!
2002 Bianchi XL Boron (Training Bike)
2005 Alan Ultral Cross (CX Pit Bike)
2007 Redline Conquest Pro (CX Bike)
2005 Fetish Cycles Lamierina (TT/Tri)
2006 Specialized Stumpjumper (MTB)

I'm having a REALLY hard time deciding which frame I should sell to I can build this one up...but I MAY be selling my 2002 Orbea Zonal to make way for a full Campy Chorus groupo for the Colnago, we'll have to see though... the Zonal was my first "real" race bike so I'm finding it hard to make a decision, I may make the Alan my primary cross bike and sell the Redline frameset.

Congrats on the nice frame.

BTW -- with all those nice bikes, you'll need to decrease the font size in your sig... :)

smoke 03-13-07 10:17 AM

geez, i just don't see anything on that list that you can afford to part with. absolutely no fat there anywhere. i would suggest you take the $1250 you saved by buying this frame and use that to start building it up from scratch. just no other option that i can see

This is assuming that I had $2000 to spend in the first place? :P

Welcome you to this club? You're joking, right? Remember this was YOUR choice.

Bring your flame ******ant skinsuit and leave the helmet mirror home.

you need to start thinking like a woman. you haven't spent any money - you've saved $1250.

Oh, maybe you're not married.

lol, nope, single but I'm liking that way of thinking :P ...at least for bikes

-You paid way too much.
-You didn't pay enough.
-It's not nice enough.
-It's too nice.
-You don't deserve it.
-You totally deserve better.
-You're not good enough for it.
-You're too good for it.
-It's the wrong color.
-I've never seen you or the product in person, but it's the wrong size.
-It's too Fred.
-It's too OCP.
-Only snobs use that.
-It's too fragile.
-It's too strong.
-It's too stiff.
-It's too flexy.
-It was made in the wrong place.
-You bought it from the wrong place.
-It's totally the wrong frame material. I don't mean you won't like the ride, I mean you're endangering your life.
-It's too new.
-It's too old.
-You're field testing unverified technology.
-I don't own it or can't afford it, so it sucks.

:D

I hate you. ;) Nice find!

patentcad 03-13-07 11:38 AM

It really comes down to this: some people hate Treks. Some people hate Cannondales. Lord know Bianchi's Celeste Green turns a few stomachs.

I HATE Colnagos. Sorry. Always have. Always will.

I think it's the foo foo paint jobs and the silly price tags. But whatever floats your bicycle boat. Welcome to the Colnago BF Club. There are others like you here. Oh yes.

If you hate them so much then don't waist space on my thread posting your unwelcomed negative comments.

vpiuva 03-13-07 11:43 AM

He must have woken up with his cleats snapped in backwards this morning.

bruce19 03-13-07 11:45 AM

I think you need to buy my MAZA Prestige TSX that is built with Campy Athena and Campy Omega wheels. It's a beautiful frame but needs TLC and I'm just not into it. It really needs a good home and I'm tired of feeling guilty when I see it. I'd sell it for $600 if you do know anyone. My Masi is fulfilling my needs these days. That's a nice collection of bikes you have. I have three road bikes (all Italian) and I'm thinking it's one too many. Starting to get into the space occupied by my Ducati and Triumph. Have fun.

If you hate unwelcome negative comments, best not to discuss bike-related purchases here. Someone will eventually try to piss in your Wheaties. But whatever you do, never EVER say you like it better than an older/cheaper bike that it replaced, because then you'll be a snob.

Yes, I know there will always be someone who will try to ruin it but I just don't get why.

crazy talk, none of my bikes could ever be "replaced".

Why do you hate playful debate?

There are many reasons, but rather than try to figure them out you should build that frame up and go for a ride. Enjoy.

But all of BF is WASTED space you insufferable weenie from hell. Now snap that helmet mirror on and keel over in your bike cleats before I come over there and wrap you in faux CF handlebar tape.

'Negative'. You think this is 'negative'? Don't get me started. I'm feeling HAPPY and CAREFREE today. Catch me after the Mets drop three straight games to the Yankees and things get much uglier.

Just go stare at your new bike and have a Colnagasm in the meantime.

You see, patentcad is kind of like Don Rickles. He's old, fat, and bald. ;) Oh, and he's acerbic and funny. The point is to take him seriously and at the same time not take him seriously at all. Therein lies the genius.
