I think I've picked my new bike, but...
OK. I've found the bike I want (at least this week.) Material, components, gearing (compact, with exactly what i want). The whole thing.
But I have to put $100 down and then wait until July for it to ship.
What's a mother to do? I was all set to order in a week or two. Now I have to figure: Do I wait until half the summer is over to get a bike? Advise me, oh turning spokes of the net, send me your wisdom. Can I wait? Would you wait? Check this puppy out. not that the bike itself matters as much as the waiting.

How and why did you pick this bike? If I'm not mistaken, this is mail order only - or am I missing something? In other words, my assumption is that you've found the least expensive bike out there with the spec's that you want, but may have no idea how it fits you or rides. Unless you already know how this bike will fit you, is it worth letting most of the longest days of the year pass you by while you wait on this bike? What price would you put on that?
Finding another bike new with Dura Ace will be next to impossible (for a reason, some would argue), but have you considered buying a used bike w/Dura Ace that you are equally (un) familiar with that could be had now? At least that way you can enjoy the spring riding and take less of a depreciation hit if you don't like it.

Do it; you already have a bike to ride while you're dreaming... but I'd get the Le Champion SL, for top performance at bottom dollar. If you're not fixated on top performance at bottom dollar, buy elsewhere...
If it ain't Moto it's worthless!

I do wish these were coming in much sooner.
We sold thru every production run we have gotten much quicker than I thought we would.
Customers love this bike and so has every magazine that has tested it.
Now on timing; we are very sure they will arrive in July and we have had the factory promise they we do everything possable to move production forward {if they can get the booked DuraAce can arrive sooner from Shimano}
thanks for your interest

I I guess I'm thinking if I get a good deal on a right sized frame (and 53 is good for me on most bikes I've ridden) I'm willing to dance a bit with everything else for a while.
On used: If I could find a bike with these specs at a good price in my size near enough to buy I'd sure look at it. I'm more willing to buy unseen from a company that -- for all appearences -- will be around next week than used from an individual I don't know.
If I do this, I plan to photo blog the living daylights out of every little experience, so half of you will be able to say "told you so."

I have an IF. It is a nice bike for the price, however you can find great deals on all kinds of 06 models and you will not have to wait for them. It is a good deal, but I personally would not wait.
Unbelievably is right, You should wait for a custom upper end bikes, but defiantly not for a bikes direct Bike.
But the choice is yours!

Go for it!
I've had great luck with bikes direct. I bought my wife a very well equiped, nice riding bike from them that the local bike shops couldn't even come close to in price.
But... For my top end bikes, I always pick and choose all the pieces and then assemble myself.
I wouldn't trust BikesDirect to have the component, frame, price, combo spec'd the way I would want it. I know my LBS wouldn't either.

The measurements on this bike were actually based off of a Giant TCR Composite.
