Anyone using a KCNC cassette?
 

I'm thinking about purchasing a KCNC cassette but thought I would check to see if anyone has any experience with them first. I was originally looking at them because they are so light, however after I started looking I noticed a big bonus. It is available in a 12-26 which would be perfect for me. Right now I have the option of using a 12-25 or a 13-26.

The 12-26 weighs in at a very impressive 144 grams. Pretty hard to beat.

Being the WW I am I have also been eyeing these but it seems to be hit or miss. Some say they shift fine and others say they are junk. I decided to stick with the 190g DA cassette. Do a serch on the WW website and you will find plenty of reviews.

Dura-Ace has a 12-27 cassette, I have one on my climbing wheelset. They are light enough and shift superbly. Mixed reviews on the KCNC and they won't last as long either.

Thanks, I'll check out weight weenies. Even if I go with a record cassette I still have to decide between a 12/25 and a 13/26. Plus the light record costs over $300. :eek:

Cycle dynamics full Ti cassettes cost less than a fulll Ti Record and are light. The KCNC stuff is good for show, or for use on one or two specific events. They shift fine with a KMC 10 speed chain, but will wear out VERY quickly. You might even break a tooth after the first ride if you mash hard. They are good abotu replacing them for tooth bending/breaking though. I just stick with regular Record cassettes most of the time, but I do have a full Ti one for use in certain events.

I've had/have 3. The durability and shifting has been varied. I had to send one back, the other two have given good service.

So Vinodurtov, would you recommend it as a daily cassette or more as a race / special occasion type cassette?
