Right side. No tattoos anymore, I've learned not to touch the chainrings.

I unclip left and sometimes get them. No big deal really.
Why left? I'm often inbetween the stopped traffic and the right turn lane. I like to lean away from the right turn lane. Also, you dismount left off a motorcycle so I do it out for consistency.

Left. I will get a tattoo at least a couple of times a year. Usually from leaning over too far to do something I should not be doing while still clipped in. I keep my chain fairly clean, but if you're riding and using a wet lube it will probably leave some kind of mark on you somewhere.

left, learned some years ago that If I'm going to dump the bike it
will be to my clipped in side. While that hasn't happened since the 2nd
time I rode clipless I would prefer to dump towards the curb than towards
traffic.
maybe 1 tattoo per season

I clip out of the left side and rarely have a chainring tattoo. However, I did end up with a tattoo on my last group ride on the OUTSIDE of my left leg. Very odd place to get one and I have no idea how it got there.

I unclip right foot, get it once in awhile, I can care less cause all the poseurs that try and drop me never succeed. Fred? I'm probably half the age that alot of these "experts" are.

I never get the tattoo while clipping out, but I get it while putting the bike away because it goes vertical in the closet with the drive side out.

Left unclip.
I get the mark perhaps once per month at most. Not from the usual clipping out and straddling bike at normal stops, but from some odd occurance, such as unclipping and leaning over steeply to adjust something on bike or shoe, etc.

I always try not to unclip for an entire ride. Its my little mental game. See how little I can take my feet out of the pedals. Trackstands are cool.

Left, sometimes. I get them on the outside of my left leg and other random places from walking with the bike, carrying it or standing next to it. I rarely get them while on the bike. I once got a chainring tat on my forehead from loading the bike onto a roof rack.

I get them when I dismount because of the way I lean into the stop sometimes or ways I lean into the slow stops. I've never heard of this as a noob thing.
I also have a scar on my leg from when my foot somehow unclipped on a really steep climb and it hit the large chainring. Burned and bled like hell, stitches and all
