Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

road shoe question to cut the straps?

ok so here is the question, i just got some new road shoes. Gaerne Ziphers i believe and i really dig them but it seems that the straps are a bit on the long side. so is it ok to trim the velcro straps or is this an indicator that the shoes are too big?

i have never had to trim straps before on shoes but i was wondering if any one else has had to do such a thing.

have you ever had to trim straps on road shoes?

If the shoes fit otherwise I think it'd be okay, but sew the ends so they don't frey. Also leave enough room for the straps to close, not just now, but you need them longest: in the winter, two pairs of socks, swollen feet, etc.
