Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

showers pass fit

I am thinking of ordering a showers pass elite jacket and would like to know if they are cut with a race type fit or a looser touring fit?

I have the Showers Pass Double Century Jacket, and they are cut the same. It is a tighter fit than my Pearl Izumi Vagabond, but not as snug as my Sugoi Team Radius.

I would say it's not really a racer fit, although it is more racer fit than touring from what I have tried on. It is short in front, and long in the back. It's snug enough to not flap in the wind, and it is cut with a riding position in mind. So off bike it's not as relaxed a feel as other touring jackets (such as the Vagabond). Even the back vent on my Double Century, is shaped in a slight arc, so when you are bent over in a riding position, the vent does not pull tight against your back. It's a nicely designed piece, that is thin and rolls up smaller than a water bottle, it tucks in a back jersey pocket nicely.

I think these photos show the type fit you can expect... You just have to decide if it's what you are looking for.

You can see here how the back vent is cut for the riding position.

It's actually a golden yellow, that I find is quite pleasing. I was considering an Elite, however the Double Century suited more what I was after, a lightweight rain jacket that packs very small. The Elite is an awesome jacket however.

I bought my Dbl-C in Blue

I have to admit that I only clicked on this thread because I had absolutely no earthly idea what it was about from the title. Now that I know there's a brand called "Showers Pass" it makes a whole lot more sense...

On the Showerpass website, that's a Touring jacket.

Looks nice, does it have a back pocket?

That's similar cut I'm looking for but the Touring jacket isn't made with eVent if I'm not mistaken.
How's the breathability?

"Showers pass fit"
Literally, it makes senses, in a very illogical way.....

The DBL-C jacket does not have a back pocket as it's made to be lightweight and packable, it packs smaller than a water bottle and fits in my road jerseys with out a lot of bulk. As I stated for me, it is in between a racing fit and a touring fit. It's not made with eVent, however is made with Pertex which is a much thinner W/B material. I used it once in a rain and it worked well enough. My arms were slightly clammy against the sleeves, however you'll get that with most W/B jackets, regardless of the material, unless it has a layer to isolate it against your skin. More important is the pit zips & back vent that allow more ventilation than any waterproof/breathable material could ever pass.

My Sugoi Team Radius is a Racer fit, however I would say the the Showers Pass DBL-C is closer to fit (on me) like the Team Radius, than my Pearl Vagabond which feels less biker, and more like a casual touring fit.

If you want eVent, and require the back pocket, then the Elite is the way to go, seeing as the cut is what you are looking for. However you are not a fan of the color, so you may have to look at other makers. Look at the Gill Adrenaline. It is an eVent based jacket, and comes in red. I can't however comment on the cut and fit of the jacket, as I haven't tried or seen it in person.
