Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

motionbased and garmin warning for new users

I found out today that if you have your garmin set to record every second instead of smart record and go out on a long ride (about 20 miles or more but don't quote me on that) the file will be too large for motion based to use. they are supposed to correct this in mid 2007 but as of right now, tht ride will not be able to be used on their site. I'm sure a lot of people know this but I just thought I'd throw it out there for some that dont.

I have had mine for over a year and never knew that but I don't use the every second record either. Thanks for the info.

Nothing new. Been that way since the beginning.

[edit] and if you get caught by this you can email tech support and they will fix your upload. I have had that done in the past.

[edit2] Now a bigger pet peeve is that over a year after the Edge was released motionbased still cannot give me graphs of my cadence data.

Yea it takes its own sweet time updating the weather. But at least you get it eventually. Go and run some nice reports on your cadence for a ride, oh wait YOU CAN'T.
