So what's a used 105 drivetrain worth?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So what's a used 105 drivetrain worth?

I say drivetrain and not Group, because my Giant OCR didn't come with full 105. It has a 105 FD, RD, brifters. The brakes are no name alloy and the crank is Truvativ. It is 2005 9 speed with under 2000 miles on it.

The reason I ask is that I got myself into trouble. I test rode a SRAM equipped bike last week and ME WANTEE!

I am guessing that likely I would be better off holding onto the 105 for a future build though.

Since it's not a full gruppo you should part it out and get prices from EBay for each individual items. Sorry I can't help with that.

Comedy option: Hit a tree head first and hope the 105's STI bends like the SRAM and save yourself the trouble.

If you don't need the money keep it. Especially if you're thinking about a future build. I would like to put together a less fancy bike for going to bars etc. Something I'm not afraid to lock up on the street. I wish I had components laying around to do it.

Mileage plays zero in the pricing of used gear,IMO.

Face it...
The question is, How much is it worth to you?
Not much, by the sounds of it.

I am having the same issues...

I'm left with my 9 Speed 105 Triple components from my 2006 Allez Elite, including a Sugino Crankset and no-name (Tektro?) brakes. I really want Ultegra 10 brifters to compliment the R700 & Ultegra 10 FD/RD so the brifters will soon be on their merry way as well.

So do I wait and package the brifters with the rest of the stuff in a pseudo build kit or part her out?

Ebay or CL?

Just hold on to those parts. You'll find an older frame one day and will want a back up bike.

brifters will fetch you a nice sum, but everything else is pretty much throwaway - and much more useful in the "backup parts bin"
