First day >70 skip work and ride

Road Cycling It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -- Ernest Hemingway

First day >70 skip work and ride

So I am starting a new tradition, every year, starting yesterday, when the temp gets above 70 for the first time skip work and ride. Having never ridden more than 50 miles in one day, i set my sights on a century. I realized after about 4 hours i did not have enough food, so I stopped at 90 miles. Felt awesome.

So the tradition begins. When the temp rises, leave and ride.

That's like using the pull-out method. I would have gone all the way.

i debated, but by the time i got home, everyone else had left work, and the 10 mile loop through philly was packed with joggers and 8 year old kids just wandering around the bike path. I did not trust my reflexes at that point to not kill them/me

Being self employed often has headaches. When the office alarm goes off at 2 AM it is me and the police down there. Staff issues are seemingly constant, and the building always needs something. I work a lot more I think becuase of it.

But this morning the sun is rising on scattered clouds. It looked like good weather yesterday when I finished a major project, so I scheduled myself to cycle. The calender says "OUT", but everyone knows it means "cycle".

As I look outside and its 29 degrees all I can think is "I hate you Kenny". Shouldn't it be freezing or something in Philly.
