Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pics of my Motobecane

Haha - lets see how many people I suck in with that thread title. Raising the Motobecane lightning rod is a bit of a trick.

ANYWAY - I'm home this week (took a week off of work just 'cause) and I'm doing two of the things I love: riding my bike and taking pics. Thought I'd combine the two and share. I've got a new set of blue tires on the way. Wish they would hurry up and get here so I could see how they look. Its been a royal pain trying to get the blues to match. That's the 3rd bottle cage I've tried. doh.

my saddle - looking accidentally phalic in this shot somehow.

Ooooooh - gettin' artsy....

1. Sweet
2. Put blue tires on it - be sure they match
3. Get some matching blue model paint and paint that cage or buy a new one to match the handlebars
4. Hook 'em!

The Bontrager Race Lite cage in blue would be a perfect match

What's up Doggus - did ya finally get around to getting a fixie?

Yeah - I was looking at those at a local shop here. I'd like to go anodized aluminum but I might have to go that route.

I have black Bontrager Race Lite cages. They work well. Hold the bottle tite but still easy to remove and insert the bottle. Blue is hard to find around here. Plus they will stand out more than thin tube and balance the bars and tires.

I dunno - I like it with black rubber, but that's just me. It's a super sweet looking ride!

Not bad, what tubing does the frame use? How much does it run?

thanks - It's 4130 tubing. I like the frame a lot (although the welds are sloppy). Its a true track geometry I think. Its a blast to ride. The bike is about $400 stock, but I added the wheels, seat post, saddle, handlebars and brake levers. I offset some of the upgrade cost by selling the original wheels (which really were't bad at all). I ride this thing all the time - in fact I rode it last night on a fast group ride. I hung with the front pack the whole way, including a long stretch at 30+ mph. That hurt a bit.

Gracias. Camera is a Nikon D80. The lens is just the Nikkor 18-55mm ED kit lens. It does a pretty decent macro shot though.
