What animal(s) did you see on your ride today?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I saw a giant pig. Forgive the bad cell pone picture, it's all I had. Note that the pig is a few feet away, but still the same size as the bike.

Killing myself for not riding with the helmet cam yesterday. Went through Mother Neff State Park, solo, just outside Crawford TX, and came upon about 30 goats in the road. The goats flipped out and it turned into a full on sprints as goats were running everywhere and I was sprinting through this mayhem, and I wound up winning the sprint...! Not one of those goats could hang with me.

Ducks, cats, seagulls, egrets, the heron, and the usual collection of stupid little dogs being walked by big

The only animals I see are the two legged ones behind the wheel of mammoth SUVs.

I did see a dead opossum the other day on my way in to work...it was still there yesterday when I rode by it again. You'd think someone would come along and clean that up.

x43x, we call that a hawg down heah.

I saw cattle (including a few Brahma bulls), horses, misc. roadkill including 'possums and squirrels, a hawk floating effortlessly over the road, and a couple of buzzards circling a road I did not take. For that reason.

I saw a coyote pup last week, couldn't figure out why he kept walking so shyly up to the cows in the field, but then later I found the mother had been hit and was road kill. I actually took a pitcture, but the pup was far away and it looks more like a rock then a pup!

Let's see....there were plenty of horses, lots of cattle, some longhorns, and the occasional llama for the ground bound four legged types. On the feathered side, lots of geese, some mallards, numerous buzzards, and lots more birds of unknown type. Also saw several unsuccessful attempts by turtles to cross the road resulting in some very flat two-dimensional turtles.

A red headed eagle (vulture) on the bike path ahead of me. From a distance I thought it was a raven eating a crust of bread. It didn't fly out of the way until I got withing 15 feet. It had been chewing on a fried chicken breast, Ala Col. Sanders.

Lot of roadkill. A barn swallow fighting the same 25 mph head wind that I was. I was at least going forwards.

Tons of Canadian geese (you guys can have them back). Mallard ducks. frogs, turtles.

Last weekend I saw a horned lizard, a turkey, a small snake and a young bobcat during my ride. It was a good animal day.

Mostly squirrels that were approximately 0.25" in height. Lots of deer. The occasional hawk floating in the thermals or high in the treetops.

Dead skunk on the Whisman Road / Central Expressway overpass earlier this week. I smelled it before I saw it. Smell was still there the next day even after the skunk had been removed.
