Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Birthday Swag

Everyone who has a birthday role around waits with anticipation for the bike swag...(at least most of the members of BF do). Today my wife, who is an accomplished fine artist, outdid herself. She commissioned the following sculpture for me by a local artist named Joe Landry. The pictures do not do it justice. I can truthfully say It is one of the better gifts I have ever received on my birthday. I thought I would share it with fellow cyclist who can appreciate the fluid and symbolic representation of road cycling.

It is an all metal, (aluminum and stainless steel), and measures approximately 22" x 21". Look absolutely magnificent in my home office.

It is based on a a cyclist, (me), climbing. But it does not yet have a name. Please feel free to offer your suggestions.

One of the best gifts**********
Please share a better one

That is way too cool. Even without the creative thought and effort from your lady.

Thanks for posting

ps I like how the spokes are blurred due to your climbing speed

Wow that's the kind of gift that I would never anticipate!!! I bet you were amazed. Next year your wife told me she is just going to get you a new patch kit though, so don't be disappointed.

Thank goodness you are climbing on that thing, because if it would be suicidal to descend on that brake less artwork.

That is what comes to mind first...or "The Climb". I was hoping to come up with something more philosophical.
