difference of Brake Calipers(front and rear)
HI guys,
I did search but I couldn't find answer what I was looking for. I bought Shimano Brake Calipers from Ebay and I just find out these are two front. :( can I just cut the bolt little bit for rear or use as is or,.. other suggestions? are the front and rear same except the lenth of bolt? http://www.lightblade.net/ebay/bike/20070414-48.jpg |
how much did you pay?
|
Don't forget to reverse the pads for rear use if you're able to use them there. Even if you were to shorten the stud, you might not have enough threading there.
|
if they're new, contact the seller and ask if he has the rear. that ain't cool.
|
I've adapted this before, but see first if the seller has the rear. To cut it off (measure length by comparing to a rear set), first remove any washers, then run a die almost all the way up the bolt. Leave the die on the bolt while you cut it to length. Hacksaw works fine. Use a file to clean the edge, then run the die back off. You will probably also need a shorter recessed nut. Get it from your LBS.

Definitely ask the seller. It may very well be in his error and someone else is about to receive 2 rear brakes :).
|
thank you guys.
the seller doesn't have the rear one. Too bad. anyway, I'll try to cut the stud and will use old shorter nut with this new one. I just wanted to know that those front and rear are same or not. Thank you again. |
You can buy a shorter bolt instead of trying to cut and thread the existing one.
