You don't hear much about Masi
Why not?
Cyclists can tend to be traditionalists and Masi is an old line, been around for years.
Are they are of touch with the modern cyclist? Or just uncommon?
Got an LBS who carries them, I'm looking for a roadie... should I just throw this one off the list on General Principal?

Traditionalists who respond to marketing, I guess. Maybe not enought hype or bling for most.
Hell no you shouldn't nix them from your list. I've never ridden one, but I've never heard a bad word about one either. If they have a bike that fits you and what you're looking for, then I say go for it! LBS support can be a real boon when you need it.

Those are not your fathers Masi's. Just like Motobecane and other names that have gone out of business and been bought up by someone building Pacrim bikes. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I think Taiwan is capable of making some of the best bikes around, i.e. Scott, Cannondale Synapse. Just dont be fooled into thinking you are getting a "real" Masi.

Nothing wrong with Masis as far as I know - test rode one (entry level), and from the limited time I spent in the saddle I can tell it felt pretty solid. Pacific Bikes up here carries them by the boatload, so I'm not really sure why other shops might not, but I'm curious.

As noted, Masi, along with many other venerable frame names are now no more than mass-produced Chinese frames. I ride a mass-produced Chinese frame, so I'm OK with it but you won't see the nice lug work and classic craftmanship that the old line was known for.

You only want an Italian Masi. If you happen to find one of those made in the USA Masi's send it to me and I will properly dispose of it. I'm such a nice guy I will pay for the shipping.

If it has service, go for it!
I bought a moto knowing i'd get no service with it, but If a cycle spectrum was my LBS, I probably would have been more likely to get one.

actually someone from over at masi.usa posts in the fg/sg forum from time to time. they seem honestly concerned with providing a good product at a good price with good customer support.

I ride a custom build on a Masi Gran Corsa Premio (2006) frame. I love it. It's light, stiff, and flashy. It was a great price too. The bike definitely turns a lot of heads because everyone around here rides Specialized or Trek.
It doesn't matter to me that the frames are manufactured in Taiwan. Why the hell should I care as long as it fits right and rides right (which it does)
I've gotta say that I'm less than impressed with their service though. I badgered them for weeks to send me touch up paint so I could repair a slight scratch (I'm OCD about that stuff) and ended up giving up because they stopped responding to my emails.
If you can get a good deal on a Masi frame, I say go for it. They are very nice.

I think the new bikes offer a pretty good value. Tim are you out there to come to your brand's defense again?
Have a 2002 Gran Crit. which is a sweet riding bike.
