Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You sure they don't been both at once? Mine are lorica and mesh...

EDIT: nevermind, I see on their site. I have mesh. They fit great. Looks like the "lorica" version is just ALL lorica with no mesh up near the toe. I'd guess one would be a tad snugger than the other, but by how much I don't know.

yeah i want a pair > I tried some on and compared to my specialized pro-carbon the fit felt really good. I guess it doesn't matter till i get out on the road but in store they felt more like " vans slip-on" when compared to the specialized. I know its better to have a super stiff shoe, however the sidi's I understand are more comfy but perhaps the slightest bit of flex ( in this particular model ) because of the sole being plastic. regardless the only way I am to survive long rides is with more comfort. with little sacrifice.

I have the lorica version, I love them. Mine are the wide version, Mega.
I guess you will have to choose depending of where you live. I cannot imagine wearing the mesh version in cold climates.

Sidi always had a philosophy of maintaining some degree of flex at certain parts of the sole. A stiff concrete block sole may actually not be the best by their account. And I assume Sidi knows a thing or two about cycling shoes.

X2, with the 5.5 Mega, that, is (carbon sole). I find them the most comfortable shoes I've worn to date. You do have to be careful with the sizing, if you plan on wearing a heavier sock in the winter, try both on as these do not stretch.

You will love these shoes. I have had some foot issues and can only were certain shoes/sneakers because a lot will hurt my feet. I've had nike cycling shoes then swithced to the Sidi's, they are awesome. They fit well and are comfortable all day long. After 6 hour rides my feet feel just fine.

Great shoes if they fit your feet. I just bought a pair 4 weeks ago to replace an aging pair of Genius 2's, which held up for 6 seasons.

OP - I have the mesh version of the Sidi Genius 5. They are NOT ideal for cool/cold weather riding. I have two sets of booties (front covers and full covers) to cope w/the cold. Otherwise, the shoes are excellent.

IMHO shoes are one thing you really should go to an LBS and try on. You really do not want ill-fitting shoes.

Fit is everything. Buy your shoes slightly larger than you'd normally. Your feet do swell while riding. I have a very old pair of Sidi's that I love but they've shrunk and I guess I grew. Now there are too snug.
