Should I see a Doc or am I woody allen on a bike here?
So this morning I was little stressed out -- waiting for a call about a job this summer, and after a while posting about riding, I decided to actually go for a ride!
Its been a while, about a week so I'm eager. I push it a little trying to break my modest PR of 15.6 AV on a fairly hilly course....
Anyways, 3 miles in, as I'm going up a modest hill I feel tension in my chest (left side): a sort of compression, as though I can't take a full breath... It doesn't hurt, its just uncomfortable. Nevertheless, I dismount, and go sit on the grass for a few minutes. I decided to return home slowly and even then I would feel aprehensive when I needed to take a lungfull of air, though I could.
So is this a big deal? Do I need to see a Dr.?
I was thinking this was stress induced and that maybe my heart monitor was too fitted too tightly around my chest. Oh, and I noticed no heart rate spikes during this at all...Does this happen to anyone else?

Yes, but it limits your earnings potential.

There are some not-so-bad things that could be going on, and some very, very bad things, none of which are best sorted out over the interwebs. Go see a doctor.

Someone on here had a heart attack while riding... If it was bad enough that you had to stop, probably a good idea to get checked out.

I had a heart attack while riding last fall. It felt like moderate indigestion on one (right) side only. It was a "if I could only belch" feeling. After a few minutes, the pain subsisded but I felt really tired/weak.....cell phone call to 911..........Triple bypass (CABGx3) 3 hours later.
I would HIGHLY recommend pursuit of medical opinion/advice. An "inconvenience" now will enable future BF postings.
On the bright side...the cardiologist told me that cycling had saved my life because it strengthened my heart suficiently to tolerate.
