Should I take my bike to Vegas?
I am going with a group of 8 and we are all 22-24 y/o, so we will probably live up vegas as much as possible. .. But one day while we're there, (We'll be there May 13th-17th) I'd like to go out on a hung over ride before everyone gets up. The airline (Champion Air) doesn't allow bicycles, so I would have to ship it. How much would it cost to ship a typical roadbike?

I wouldn't bother with shipping it. If you're only there a few days, I would look up and stop by a LBS near your hotel there, and rent a roadie for a few days. You may even be able to call them ahead of time, and get one reserved. Take your shoes, and a set of your own pedals.
That would probably cost alot less than shipping your own bike.

I'm guessing you won't be riding. It's the only trip I am taking this year (other than the over night motorcycle trips) that I won't be taking the bicycle

You will need a car to get off the strip, as I wouldn't recommend riding on or near the strip. You could also bring a pair of shoes with SPD clips, and go to the gym at the hotel you are staying at and spin. You can then do the steam room, sauna, hot tub and cold pool circut. It makes you feel good about yourself when you do a 10-12 hour session on a black jack table. Good Luck in Vegas.

Red Rock Canyon would be an incredible place to ride. I used to live 5 minutes from there. I always took my Corvette on the 16 mile park road for a ride through the twisties!

You and your buddies are 22-24 yrs old.
Whether you rent a bike or bring your own, I bet you don't take a ride. Latest Vegas odds show you as a 5 to 1 underdog.

btw
if you take it and lock it up, lock it well, vegas has a bit of a bike theft problem. not like most cities don't, but don't take any chances.

My feelings on the topic are the same as what celticfrost posted above. Even if you don't ride, you can TELL US you rode, because what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

The Red Rock loop is alot of fun. Coming from Cali, I didnt respect the climb the first time through and I found myself deep in the red after trying to big chain ring the first half. Also Sapphire is pretty fun. Not that I would know.
